Little stars sweatshirt

Carrying on with my passion for designing and making clothes is not always easy with two young kids around. That is why most of my projects take long time to happen and are done in many stages:) But once they are finished I get a great satisfaction and elevation from completing each project.

Here is one I finished last week but only just managed to put my daughter in for the photo. This one I didn’t make from scratch I customised an existing sweatshirt I bought from H & M.

What you will need:

-existing sweatshirt

-craft knife & rubber cutting mat

-fabric paints & paint brushes (+plastic container for your paint)

-card board to make stencils (I used old cereal boxes)

In this case I made a placement stencils for the particular garment I was planning to print. So firstly I drew the outline of the sweatshirt & cut it out (the only reason I cut 2 pieces instead of one is because of the small size of the card I had, if you buy a card from an art shop you should be able to make a stencil out of one piece). Then I drew the stars to fit the outline of the sweat & cut them out. Now it’s ready to be printed.

Place the stencils onto the garment & print (I had to do two layers of paint as once the first layer had dried I noticed few patches that I missed).

Lastly to seal the paint you need to let the paint dry thoroughly and then iron the print. I used muslin square to put directly onto the print & iron over it for 4-5 min but each fabric paint is different so read the instructions carefully for advice.

Ta da!
