It may not be the largest farm/zoo in Yorkshire but the petting zoo at Rother Valley Country Park is certainly an enjoyable aspect of an all round fantastic day out. We visited Rother Valley over the bank holiday and reached the petting zoo once by family fun bike and later in the afternoon on the small steam train. The kids loved both! They also enjoyed feeding the Llama’s, goats and Highland Cows.
Afterwards we fed the ducks by one of the lakes (using proper bird feed available at the steam train station) and then rode a kayak to the lake’s island to enjoy even more wildlife of the feathered variety.
To round the day off we then watched intrepid visitors zooming around the waterskiing/wakeboarding lake and laughed as participants of the Total Wipeout style assault course splashing into the water with comic effect.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to entertain the kids I’d heartily recommend Rother Valley Country Park!
